Today was great. Last night I went to bed at 9.30 with the moonlight shining into my room (I have no curtains) and I woke up this morning at 8.45 with the sun streaming through. After having surprisingly delicious coffee and trying to catch up on my google reader in the morning, I was allowed to help feed the calf! It is actually harder than you might think—he pushes the bottle with his head really hard (kind of like a headbutt) every so often and it makes it pretty hard to hold onto. After he drank all the milk he rubbed his head against my legs and licked my ankles. Very cute. Still no pictures because I forgot to get the cable thing I need. Sorry.
Also, K came! My fellow wwoofer! He’s cool and brought a ukulele.
This afternoon there was an open house at the farm so a bunch of people came by and just hung out at the picnic tables under the ash tree in the front and it was a really lovely time. Then K and I picked kale, Brussels sprouts and tomatoes from the garden, got some eggs from the chicken coop and garlic that was drying in the barn and made dinner!
Now I’m curled up in the living room with Tigger, their 15 year-old ginger cat who’s purring up a storm and will go to bed soon!
You gotta let us know when the next open house is so we can come visit!
ReplyDeleteNo more open houses! There was only an open house because of the Massachusetts Raw Milk Dairy Days even, where 11 dairy farms across MA opened up their farms on the 10th and 11th of September for visitors. But it's OK because I work here so I can give you the tour whenever you come.
